I found 3 kittens in my barn and the mom abandoned them. One was dying when I found them and they have poopy butts. I took the two in but they are around 3 weeks only. how can I feed them, they seem like they could lick out of a bowl, but they didn't when I gave them some wet cat food. any advice, I don't want them to die either.

You can get the baby bottles and baby milk formula at stores like petco or petsmart and also at your local vets office. Your vet will also give you a discount for finding and caring for these kittens.
Please call them and get suggestions from your vet....it's FREE and they should be more than helpful. As a matter of fact, ask them if you could BORROW the bottles and any free formula so you can get these kittens healthy.

Oh yes....take a heating pad, turned on LOW and place it inside a crate....then put baby blankets on top of that and let the little ones sleep in the crate. The warmth from the heating pad and baby blankets will bring up their body temperature and simulate the warmth of their real mommy.

basic care for 3 week old kittens?

i got 3 three week old kittens today, their mother either ran away or was killed, they were brought in where i work because those who had them just did not have the time for the extensive care.
now i know a few things about them, i know they need to drink kitten replacement milk from a bottle, which i have, and i know they need to be stimulated to go to the bathroom, thats no problem.
ive done a whole lot of feed babies in my time, but its all been puppies and squirrels and baby bunnies, never have i had a kitten this young. im keeping them until the rescue can place them, and i just have a couple questions, because every article ive read has said something else.
how often is best to feed them? and how much? ive read a bit how less is more, and cats will eat even when theyre full, so when i have 3 kittens to feed, how do i know how much to give each one?
i also may be keeping one, when is the best time to wean and whats the best method?
since they do not have their mother to teach them important lessons, whats the best way to manage and not create a beast?
when should i introduce the litterbox? and do they sort of catch on to that on their own, or will it be an ordeal?
and finally, how much handling is important at this age? should i be playing with them and handling them, or do they need to be kinda left alone at this age?

my family has been fostering kittens for almost 3 years, and we get a lot of kittens this young.
you want to feed them every four hours, and my mother usually feeds them an ounce or two, but if they'll eat more she feeds them until they are satisfied.
to wean them off the bottle, what we usually do is mash up some kitten food and add the milk supplement to it for the first few days, while also giving them some of the bottle, but first trying to get them to eat the other food.
When they are able to go the the bathroom by themselves, we keep a couple small litter boxes with them at al times in their pen, and if they are out on the floor playing and we notice they are about to have an 'accident' we pick them up and put them in the litter box so they go in there, this actually helps a lot.
the kittens should be handled a lot at this age. they should be held and cuddled a lot, especially if they do not have a mother. like people, kittens need some type of mother figure to help them feel comfortable, leaving them alone may make them very distressed. handling them also makes it less likely for them to bite when they are older because they will be used to a persons touch
