Does any one recommend a specific kind of breast pump? I was thinking about renting one but not sure since rentals are about $50 a month and some are only $200 to own your own.
Any thoughts

You are going to want an electric pump with the possibility of pumping both sides at the same time. The electric pumps are MUCH better than the manual ones and don't take as much time. The rental is going to be a better model than the one you can buy for $200. I would rent unless you are planning on pumping for longer than a year. If you buy, it is possible that the pump would go out and need to purchase another one. I would strongly discourage buying used pumps because you don't know how much it has been used. It could be on it's last leg and only work for another couple of weeks or months. The biggest brand name right now is Medela. They offer quite a few different models. Make sure you know how much you are planning to pump and where you are going to pump in order to choose the best model for you. Some are more portable than others.

The hospital has a list, otherwise start going through the baby stores. It's hard to say though, some large chains rent them, also very small boutique stores (sometimes the ones that sell cloth diapers).
Also you can call the manufacture, I think medela and avent are the only ones that make hospital grade pumps and they should have a list of dealers in your area.
The rental pumps are awesome!
