I have no education in child care but I have a lot of experience with babysitting babies from newborns on up. I want to open a nursery type of day care center. As the owner exactly what education would I need? I would like to know the education needed if I was the owner working with the kids or the owner not working with the kids. I live in maryland. If there is education needed can it be done online only and from somewhere accredited? Please help with more personal experience rather than giving me websites if possible. I've been to almost all of them. Thanks in advances

You state laws will probably require some simple education like CPR or first aid and other things like a TB test if working with kids/babies.
As the owner you would need a much better education not so much to know how to deal with babies but to deal with business. You will have employees, employment taxes, worker's comp insurance, liability insurance, financial statement, payroll, HR responsibilities, screening potential employees, background checks. You would need management skills and training skills. Managing people is a art and a science, getting them to do things your way and happy to do it means you got it. Controlling babies is easy compared to controlling employees.
You will need to establish safety and operating procedures. Things you don't worry about with one baby or siblings count in daycare. Changing diapers means making sure hands are washed and the changing table clean for each baby. Things like ecoli can spread and sicken and kill babies if every employee isn't careful and following rules even if nobody is watching.

Okay so the theme in the room ive made the bottom half like a little fish aquarium and the top is light blue with clouds and a sun. im having a little girl and my 3 year old is a boy. i know at some point in time i will have to seperate the two of them but i dont have any extra bedrooms. i feel its a good idea but im not sure?? of course i will be keeping baby in her bassinet until shes a little bit older. any ideas for her nursey as to decorations? and is having both kids in the same room ok?

Baby's don't care what their room looks like, keep it the way it is so your son doesn't feel like his new sister is taking over his life. Then by the time she's old enough to care hopefully you'll be in a bigger house.
